How it works
Four steps, no theatre after the first one.
You tell us about your car. A licensed dealer looks at it properly and decides what he'll pay. You get an offer by text. If you like it, we handle the paperwork and come and get the car. That's the whole process — here's each part in plain terms.
The sequence
What actually happens
Tell us about the car
Two ways to do this. Play the garage on our home page — it walks you through the questions a buyer actually asks, one at a time, and takes your photos as you go. Some people find it genuinely enjoyable, which is a strange thing to say about a car listing, but there it is. Or skip the game entirely and just text us the rego, the kays, the condition, and a handful of photos. Both paths land in the same place: on Christian's desk.
A licensed dealer reviews it — personally
This is the part that makes the whole thing real. Nothing here is automated. Christian, a licensed Queensland motor dealer, looks at your photos and your answers and decides what he's prepared to pay, the same way he has for hundreds of private purchases. No algorithm spits out a number. If something in the photos doesn't add up, or he needs another angle, he'll ask.
The offer comes by SMS
You get a text with a number and, if it's relevant, a short note about why — a service item that's due, a tyre that needs replacing, that sort of thing. There's no pressure and no countdown attached to it. Read it, think about it, ask questions if you've got them. Take it or leave it. If you leave it, nothing happens — no follow-up campaign, no second lowball offer.
Accept, and we do the paperwork
If you say yes, we run a PPSR check and confirm there's no finance owing that we don't know about, then prepare the proper Queensland statutory transfer paperwork — the same forms a dealer is required to use. You get paid, we collect the car from you. You don't drive anywhere, you don't meet us at a car park, you don't chase anyone for a signature.
Before you start
What to have handy
None of this is mandatory to begin — you can start the conversation with nothing but a rego plate. But having these ready means fewer back-and-forth texts.
- Your rego papers or registration certificate, so we've got the right rego, VIN and details.
- Some form of photo ID — we need this before payment, for the transfer paperwork, not before the offer.
- Service history or logbooks, if you've kept them. Not essential, but it helps the review.
- Clear photos: all four exterior angles, the odometer, the dash, the interior, and anything that's damaged or worn.
- If the car is under finance, your loan account details and, ideally, a recent statement showing the payout figure.
If your car's under finance
This is more common than people expect, and it doesn't stop a sale. Tell us there's finance on the car when you first get in touch. If you accept an offer, part of the process is contacting your financier to confirm the exact payout figure, then arranging for that amount to go straight to them at settlement, with the balance — if there is one — coming to you. If you owe more than the car is worth, we'll say so plainly and you can decide what you want to do from there.
What we buy — and what we're careful with
We buy across South East Queensland: everyday cars, tradie vehicles, family wagons, the lot. We'll look at cars without a current roadworthy — that's normal for a car being sold, not bought to drive away. If your car has ever been written off and repaired, you need to tell us; it's a legal requirement to declare that, and it will factor into how the car is reviewed. We can't buy every car, and sometimes the answer after a look is no. If that happens, we'll tell you straight, not leave you wondering.
Straight answer, either way
No obligation at any point
Playing the garage doesn't commit you to anything. Getting an offer doesn't commit you to anything. You can stop at any step, and if you don't like the number, you just don't reply. There's no cooling-off period to worry about because there's nothing to cool off from until you say yes.
